Laces, also called shoe strings were made of leather, cotton, jute, hemp... since approx. 3500 BC. Nowadays shoelaces often consist of various synthetic fibers, which are generally more slippery and thus easier to come undone. Since the 80s, at the latest, laces have become a real accessory. Nowadays brands like Mr Lacy produce various types of laces including real wicked and extravagant desings.
